The Toccoa Falls College Board of Trustees has unanimously elected Dr. Robert M. Myers as the college’s seventh president. Dr. Myers has been a part of Christian higher education for 20years. He and his wife Cheryl have been married for almost 25 years and have two children, Joshua (age 15) and Joy (age 10). The Myers are in the process of relocating to the area. His first day in the office as president of Toccoa Falls College will be July 1, 2012. To read more about Dr. Myers, click here.

The Search Committee will meet April 9 to continue their selection process. They are still on track to have a candidate to present to the Trustees when they meet April 26. Hopefully, we will be able to announce their selection in the May eNewsletter. In the meantime, please continue to hold this group (and the college) in your prayers.

The Search Committee closed the application process and will convene via phone to determine which candidates will advance to the next step. We will continue to post updates as the process progresses.

The Board of Trustees has launched a fresh new search for a president of the college. As this develops and progress is made, I will continue to update you. In the meantime, please be in fervent prayer about this. We are at a pivotal state and need the right person to lead us; one who understands, believes in, and strives to stay on our mission and seek Godly wisdom and direction for our beloved college. Continue prayers for our interim leadership with Dr. Barbara Bellefeuille and her team of vice presidents.

The Search Committee completed their work and presented their recommendation to the Board of Trustees for their approval. Chairman of the Board, Mr. Ray Kincaid, issued the following statement:

New considerations of campus needs have led to a redirection for the Trustees towards an interim president that will focus on our financial difficulties and other immediate challenges. Provost, Dr. Barbara Bellefeuille, will continue to lead the campus, then will serve to transition and assist the interim president, laying the foundation for the subsequent long-term president to build the college for the future.

Dear Toccoa Falls Alumni,

The committee met August 2 to review and assess answers to the questionnaire they sent to fifteen candidates who had “graduated” to the second stage of the interview process. Their goal was to narrow this down to four candidates for face-to-face interviews. Those were selected and one withdrew; therefore, we now have three strong candidates for president who will be interviewed by the Presidential Search Committee in early September. Their final recommendation will be made to the Board of Trustees later that month.

Dear Toccoa Falls Alumni,

The search committee has met several times to review and rate the 63 applications and have moved several to the next level. The deadline for receiving resumes was June 15. All applicants were rated based on the presidential profile and given a rate on a scale of 1 to 5 for each of the four sections of the profile. The average of the four sections was calculated and submitted anonymously by each member of the committee. This gave each candidate a potential of receiving up to 60 points. All 63 candidates were rated and the results were compiled into a spreadsheet. The committee met to review the results and set a threshold for advancing the candidates.

Fifteen candidates reached the threshold and were moved to the next level. They were sent a letter informing them of their status and were asked to complete an additional questionnaire, to send official transcripts, and provide references. The deadline for receipt of these documents was Friday, July 15. Candidates who did not make the cut were sent a letter thanking them for submitting their names.

On Tuesday, August 2, the committee will convene to determine which candidates will be invited to a telephone interview. We will continue to update you as the committee progresses. Please pray for discernment, unity, and wisdom for this committee.

Dear Toccoa Falls Alumni,

The Presidential Search Committee met for its first meetings on Tuesday, February 1 and Tuesday, February 15 by conference call. At those meetings procedures and timelines were discussed. Although some refining continues we are beginning to move forward by receiving names and resumes of potential candidates.

The function of the committee…as its role is defined…is to present to the Nominating Committee of the Board of Trustees a candidate, who in turn will present to the full Board of Trustees that candidate for the presidency of the college.

Names of any prospective candidate(s) may be submitted to the committee until June 1, 2011. The position will remain open until filled. Persons wishing to present names of a prospective candidate should contact the person and ask him/her to submit a résumé to the committee.

The committee will review all the materials received, schedule appropriate interviews, and recommend to the Board of Trustees one candidate for the position of president.

The committee asks that you pray for them as they seek God’s person to lead our college in this new millennium. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call or write any member of the committee.
