Report from TFAA President

What a great Homecoming we had this year as we continued to celebrate "100 Years of God's Faithfulness!" Over 700 attended various events throughout the weekend! Here are some of the special Centennial events that took place.
Our first event was the unveiling of the Centennial historical markers, one of the Alumni Association funded projects. TFC President, Dr. Wayne Gardner, led in the unveiling ceremony as we stood beside the college bell. Throughout the weekend alumni and friends enjoyed taking a tour of the 16 markers that tell the Toccoa Falls story of faith.
Reminiscent of the barbeque dinners that Dr. and Mrs. Forrest and Kelly Barnes used to serve during Homecoming, we enjoyed our own barbeque dinner on the campus lawn. The TFAA board met immediately following. This was our annual Homecoming board meeting which included our newly elected board member Debra Chastain and re-elected members Frank Smith and Judy Rollins. This year's officers elected by the board are Rebecca Anaya, Secretary; Frank Smith, Vice President and Pat McGarvey, President. We were encouraged to hear the about the great things God continues to do at the college through our college president Dr. Wayne Gardner and Sharon Sanderson, Director for Alumni and Church Relations.
Saturday morning we had a full house for the Reunion followed by a special Centennial parade. This year's involvement with the student body was unsurpassed as the parade included floats for each decade through the last century, a special depiction of Dr. and Mrs. Forrest, the Homecoming court, Student Government Association, College Hostess, College Chancellor and our "First Family," Drs. Wayne and Donna Gardner.
Saturday afternoon was the site dedication of the future Leon and Rachel Gathany Outdoor and Environmental Center. This was a wonderful time to honor Mr. Gathany, to acknowledge the commitment made by friends and family in funding the center, and to give glory to God for his greatness. Mr. Gathany led us in "Amazing Grace" at the end of the program, and we later joined together at the awards banquet to honor the Alumnus and Alumna of the Year.
Culminating the weekend was a service Sunday morning in the Paul and Mary Williams Chapel with testimonies from alumni representing each decade. It was a sweet time of fellowship and as one alumnus stated, a living testimony of "how God can changed a life and how He can use Toccoa Falls to do it."
I would like you to simply ask God what commitment He would have you make to Toccoa Falls. As alumni shared throughout the weekend, Toccoa Falls is still the place "where you can feel the presence of God on campus;" still the place where "professors and staff are writing the Word on student's hearts - living it out every day;" still the place "where grounded in that faith we can face the challenges of life;" and still the place where education doesn't "forget the soul of man." Come be a part of what God is still doing at Toccoa Falls College!
Together with you,

Pat McGarvey
President, TFAA
