Dr. G. William Quarterman (1976)
Bill is a professor and Chairman of the Psychology and Counseling Department at Toccoa Falls College. He is also a Licensed Professional Counselor with Quarterman and Associates, a member of the Licensed Professional Counselor Association, and the American Association of Christian Counselors. He is a past member and former chairman of the Action Community Team for a Drug-free Stephens County.
In 2007 Georgia’s Governor, Sonny Perdue, reappointed Bill to the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists for the State of Georgia through December 2009.
In 2008 he was awarded the Life Saving Merit Award from the Red Cross. This was presented to him by Lt. Governor Casey Cagle for responding to cries for help after a young boy had drowned. Bill used CPR and was able to resuscitate the twelve-year old with assistance from his wife Cyd.
Bill’s most recent honor is his election as Chairman of the Georgia Composite Board, a licensed professional counselor board. He has served on the Composite Standards Committee since 2004, working to bring current rules up to national standards.
Bill has worked on leadership and team building workshops with Coca-Cola, Nabisco, Delta Airlines, and Ford Motor Company, to name a few. He earned his undergraduate degree from Toccoa Falls College, a master’s in Religious Education and Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University, and a doctorate degree in Counseling and Student Personnel Services from the University of Georgia. Quarterman and his wife Cynthia have two sons.
The flip side to Bill’s stellar counseling and political endeavors is his willingness to participate in creative ways with alumni functions. He and Cyd are real sports when it comes to working with the Alumni Office during Homecoming. During 2007 they represented Dr. and Mrs. Richard Forrest in our Homecoming parade; and in 2008 they donned hats and aprons to be some of our best soda jerks during Friday’s ice cream social.
Recently he and Cyd hosted an informal alumni function at his house, welcoming over 40 local alumni and President Wayne Gardner. The alumni association appreciates Bill’s support of and passion for Toccoa Falls College. He is a valued alumnus.

Hey Bill, I enjoyed reading
Hey Bill, I enjoyed reading about you. Having known you most of my life, I get such a kick out of hearing all you've accomplished. I remember back in my younger years when Betty would always keep you and Bob before us in prayer. And look at all you've accomplished since then. You're family is beautiful and you are able to influence and inspire so many. Say hello to Cyd for me. Love ya'll, Michelle
Definitely a well
Definitely a well accomplished, well round individual. Dr. Q is and Mrs. Q are inspiring. Thanks for all of your hard work and teachings.
Great write up Dr.
Great write up Dr. Quarterman but I wanted to talk to your boys. I was a student of both your parents in school. I was a rebellious Christian to say the least, but your parents were the first to say a good word about me. I received a bad reputation for choices that I made and then some that were labeled due to the sport I played or the individuals I hung out with. Your parents are people that I will remember for the rest of my life. I come from great parents so don't think that I had a bad up bringing and I needed some support, my father was a preacher and school counselor as well as my mother was a counselor too. I met many teachers and professors over the years and the ones that you have for your parents are at the top of my list. You will see this when you get older meaning leave home for a couple of years then you will see how truly blessed you are. I hope God continues to bless your home and Melissa and I will see ya'll in the future we need to make a TFC trip, but it's hard now that we live by the beach. God Bless
Just a note from Dave and
Just a note from Dave and Karen (wife) to say Hi to Bill and Cyd. We remember them and how gracious they were to us when I was a student at Toccoa (1982-1985). I went on to get my MA in Old Testament in Columbia,SC but actually went back to work at the VA and retired from the computer dept there in 2007. Please tell them Hi from us and to feel free and drop us a line (email). Thank you.
